New Unauthorized Insurer Scam Alerts

Be a Smart Insurance Agent!

Insurance Lead Sources Reviewed

I just noticed that the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) has published an alert for PPOs to be aware of signing contracts with anauthorized insurance companies. That is kind of scary. If the TDI thinks that PPO organizations can get fooled by unauthorized insurers, then they are certainly certainly aware that insurance agents, and especially consumers, can get duped too!

I know its easy to get complacent, and be attracted by the promise of making an offer for a low insurance rate with easy underwriting to our clients! However, if you are an American insurance agent, you know underwriting is strict and premiums are not cheap. We should be able to advise our clients on ways to cut insurance premiums, but if an offer looks to good to be true, than we need to face the possiblity that it is!

Actually, the Federal Office of Accountability has published warnings that over 200,000 policy holders have been impacted by unauthorized insurers in a three year period. Many of these policy holders were part of small business groups, so not all were individuals. I am certain that many of the insurance agents who had their careers ruined over this, did not realize that they had been recruited by illegal insurers, but thought they had found their clients a great deal!

Before soliciting business for any insurer, especially one that you have not worked with before, contact your state insurance department. A simple phone call can save your business.

Term Life Insurance Is Cheaper Now

Americans are living longer! This is good news and is reflected in cheaper life insurance rates, with decreases up to 33%. Life insurance agents used to be very reluctant to advise clients to replace a life insurance policy because the main factor of a premium rate was age. They could rarely compete on price with a life insurance policy that was a few years old.

However, with decreases in life insurance rates, it may off to consider quoting life insurance again. If you have a 20 year term policy, even a $15 a month savings will add up $3600!

Check Out Our Term Life Insurance Needs Calculator, and of course, Compare Life Insurance Rates!

ROP Term Life Calculator

One of the hottest products is Return of Premium (ROP) Life insurance. It's pretty easy to sell because it is a win-win situation for an insurance customer! If they survive the term of their life insurance policy, then they get their premiums back! Of course, if they do not survive, their beneficiaries get the death benefit.

I had good success marketing this product by demonstrating just how large the check would be at the end of the term of the term life insurance policy. I have an ROP Term Life Insurance Calculator Here to illustrate the process.

Insurance agents, sell more term with ROP (return of premium) riders!

By the way, if you are looking for hot and interested people who are searching for life insurance, consider life insurance leads from internet searches!

Where did your internet insurance leads come from?

I have had both good and bad experiencs with internet insurance leads! Since I run my own websites, I have learned that the quality of the leads depend upon how they are collected! If leads are collected as an incentive for a web visitor to obtain something else (i.e. points, a prize, etc.) they are probably not very good!

However, if internet leads are collected because a web surfer was searching for insurance, then these are great leads! Hometown Quotes collects leads from web visitors who actively search for car insurance, homeowners insurance, health insurance, renters insurance, and life insurance. They run their on campaigns in both paid and free search sites, and with ads on other sites. They also use a network of affiliated partners to collect leads the same way.

Since Hometown Quotes are already experts at collecting leads, you can leverage their power. You will probably end up paying less for leads than if you tried to run an internet campaign by youself. Your business is selling insurance. Their business is finding people who want to buy!
